Guess the game: Galaga?
(Sounds like the capture noise when a Galaga captures your ship) Great show guys. And Locke you aren't alone, Snowed about 130 miles west of me two days ago or so. Last edited by Colt 45 J on Sun Jun 07, 2009 10:47 pm; edited 1 time in total _________________

Gamefly. As far as Modcast Plays, we had a busy week - we really want to get it happening again, and with no 360, that gives me more focus. _________________

What you guys been playing:
Jam: Infamous-This is one PS3 game I really want to play. Battleforge-The thing that makes me love it are the cards. It just reminds me so much of yugioh, which was my favorite card game. Burnout Pradise social- It's so great going back to burnout after not playing it for so long. I would have to say that the best part is my toy car taking out everyone in it's path. Sun: RFG- The only reason I really want to play this game would be to destroy stuff and I can do that in the demo. Sims 3-This sounds really interested, I may try this out sometime if I ever have extra money. If we can go into each others towns, this could be our virtual noobtoob cult town. Locke: Plants vs Zombies-I have been playing this game everyday, the zen garden is probably the biggest thing that makes me come back to it. There are some really annoying challenges like the pogo zombie challenges.I also love the wal-nuts, so cute. Uncharted 2 beta-I don't really care to much for the multiplayer, besides the co-op.I want to play uncharted for the single player. I just find it funny that people are saying that the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta is better then both Gears of War 1 and 2 *cough*El Presador*cough*. What I've been playing: Again nothing really new this week, just been playing Gears 2,some SF4,Plants vs Zombies and my arcade games. I haven't felt motivated to pick up Saints Row 2 again because it kept freezing on me. I actually, thanks to Battleforge, scrounged up my yu-gi-oh cardsand decided to duel myself for fun. I loved playing this with friends and maybe I will bring them to PAX if people want to play. Other then that,I've did play the 1vs100 beta, it is a complete blast to play, event though I still haven't gotten into the mob. One thing that made it a lot of fun was being in the same lobby as Kaid so we were competeing for points. I recommend everyone to try out the beta when its on. The last thing I played was actually part of a social. Shadowrun Sundays are back. I'm glad we were able to get a really big group to play with and also, this was the first event I hosted, so I hope people enjoyed themselves. Guess the game: Hm, I'll take a random shot, Space Invaders. News:
Announcements- Can I just say we could always use more people for Shadowrun Sunday. Last edited by Dracomaster01 on Mon Jun 08, 2009 5:19 am; edited 1 time in total _________________

That's what I was going to guess, where the bonus point ship passes along the top part of the screen. At least that is what it reminds me of. |

What You've Been Playing
Sims 3 - I hope we get to hear more about your Sim adventures. I've never played Sims before, but I have to admit hearing you talk about it does interest me. What I've Been Playing X-Men Origins: Wolverine - I'm a known Achievement Whore, but I've always prided myself on playing games that I truly enjoyed or had an interest in. This game ruined that streak as it is the first game I have played through just to get the points despite hating it. I know a lot of people have been loving this game, but I don't see it. This game is awful. It's full of glitches. I feel through the map at least 6 times while playing through the game; 3 times in the same level! Not only did I fall through the level, but so did the boss. At another point the boss fell through his animation and got stuck in the game. The game let me kill him, but then the level would not proceed any further. Also, there are points in the game where it looks as though you can throw bosses off the level, but doing that also glitches the game even though you can throw normal people off levels okay. The gore is another reason I don't like the game. What's the point of adding gore if you end up having to coloring the blood purple? It was just gross and unnecessary. Yay Modcast!
EDIT....erm, actually guys, I've been typing this post on and off all day whilst I've been working and it's only now that I've posted it that I've realised how big it is. You might want to get a cup of tea and a bite to eat if you're planning on reading all of the following nonsense... WYGBP: Battle Forge - all the while you guys were talking about this I just had Homer Simpson's voice in my ear going 'NERD!', but that's probably a little harsh as it's only because we're talking about a card game. Still, probably not something that I'd really be interested in, even if I did get quite jealous when you were all raving about how great Culdcept Saga is... Red Faction: Mountain Gorilla - sounds great! I really fancy picking this up at some point, the complexity of all the options and the impact it has on the gameplay sounds very nicely realised. As games get bigger and more free-form, I hope this sort of thing becomes more commonplace. How great would it be if you were playing through a game, gradually building support for your rebellion and that defined how the final (say) third of the game panned out? So you might be the leader of an army and fighting an enormous battle or the sole survivor of a wiped-out army trying to sneak into the enemy's base to finish the job or anything in between? Could we get to the point where 'You Win - The End' is no longer the final point in the game, but you play through to several potential endings, some of which might be surprisingly downbeat in an Empire Strikes Back/Two Towers/just about any other 2nd film in a trilogy-style? In the case of Red Faction: Golden Tamarin, if you take the wrong decisions in the game, could you lose support from the population and, even though you might 'win' in the end, you have effectively become a terrorist and be hated by everyone else? Sims 3 - Again, not my type of game, although the fact that you end up with funny stories to tell at the end always makes things worthwhile. My sister was a big fan of the original Sims and when the head of the household died in a kitchen fire she had him buried out in the garden right next to the children's playground. She then complained that the kids never went and played there, funny that... Sunny + FF12 - tell us more, how are you getting along, big fella? The E3 News-gasm: Liked the Excited/Not Excited/Embarrassed format so hope you don't mind if I join in, I'll spoilerise it, otherwise this'll be a wall of text...
Actually, while we're talking about E3 announcements, I appreciate all these people may not be natural public speakers, but what's the deal with this stilted, stop-starty talking style that seems to have become the norm? It's like they saw one person do it and then decided that they all had to copy (I often wonder if this is what's happened with American news announcers (particularly the sports ones), whose bizzare emphasis and cadencing make no sense and are not repeated anywhere else in the world). Peter Molyneux talking about Milo was the only one where anyone seemed to show any signs of enthusiasm, whereas the announcement of MGS: Rising was positively painful. Vs: LOL, that was even shorter than the Mario 64 one. Genius! What Has Littleg Been Playinz?: Only three days since I wrote my post for Ep 71, so not much more to add. Spent some more time with Marcus and the boys in Gears 1 and I still remain slightly unconvinced. Whilst I love the game's style (propensity to cause a kind of snow-blindness through over exposure to the colour grey aside), certain aspects of the control and gaming mechanics seem very poorly resolved. Running and gunning through a wrecked near-future landscape will never get old, but the aiming is taking some getting used to, causing me to miss more sniper shot than I'd like. I also seem to be getting this weird thing where sometimes the sniper rifle automatically starts reloading and sometimes I have to trigger it with the right bumper, and if I start to trigger it whilst it's automatically doing it then I get a botched reload and a frustrating wait. Plus Locke mentioned that he struggles with the melee in other games but likes Gears, but I've yet to get the hang of it, the fast-moving dog-y things frequntly dissapearing 'under' the camera leaving me spinning Marcus on the spot and thrashing away at the B button in the hope of hitting something. And I still haven't got to grips with pressing the Y button to view a point of interest, frequently getting shown a blank wall that I'm stood next to or being given a lingering view of a piece of scenery behind which an emergence hole has appeared an indeterminate distance away. And throwing a grenade to a point below you (like the boomer pit at the end of the second chapter) is an exercise in guess work as you can't bounce the grenades along the floor so have to do an up-and-over throw that leaves you staring at the sky and trying to second-guess where it'll actually land. And, whilst I'm sure I'm slightly to blame for not paying attention, I must've died about 20 times before I figured that the Krill won't go near light sources. I really want to like this game though, it has that rare quality - character, readily backed up with witty dialogue and a real eye for design. Oh and finally, I downloaded the DW: Gundam 1 demo and after a quick play, I'm with Jam. I love the look of the Gundam world and piloting a giant robot should always be fun, plus Jam did get one thing wrong in that the combos are explained, tucked away in a menu-within-a-menu (they didn't seem to work for me anyway). However, the fundamentals of the DW gaming underneath it all showed through, with floaty movement, wave after wave of indentical enemies, backwards camera controls and a confusing map. Although I doubt I would ever have stumbled upon a copy of DW:G2 in the UK, I reckon I had a near miss there... Right, this has surely been my longest post ever so I better let you guys go. If you manage to read that lot, thanks for taking the time, and thanks for another great Ep! _________________
